changing time

Why is it so difficult to make changes to wordpress basics. All I’m trying to do is simply change the time from gmt to mountain and I have been searching for over an hour trying to figure it out. Why can’t wordpress make it so that making changes like these are made simple. It shouldn’t take an hour just to change the time on ones blog. Can anyone show me how to change the time? Thanks
