Changing SLugs

    I keep changing my slugs for my categories on the categories page. then hitting “update” button and they won’t change. Is there another setting I need to be changing to change my slugs? i am trying to make them more SEO friendly. i am using agent press child theme with genesis.

    Perhaps you need to review Using_Permalinks.

    I understand how permalinks work. I have changed my permalink to be a custom structure, which works fine. part of my custom structure is inserting the slug for the category into the permalink before the post name. I want to clean up the category slugs (which were created by someone else and are not right for SEO). Seems easy enough, but when I make the changes in the categories tab and then hit update the changes will not save.

    You have to have a category base.
