• I’ve always been unsure of how this works. Occasionally I will redo and update an old post and wish to give it a current date so it shows in my current feed again. However I have many people who link to my posts from Pinterest etc. and I don’t want to break those. What I typically do is copy the content of the old post and make a new one, then keep the old post live but forward it to a newly created updated one so the links don’t break.

Is that pretty much the only way to handle that situation?

    Thanks!
    Nancy

  • It’s a tough call to make after a site is established, but many people start off by setting their permalinks to NOT include the date. That way they can republish as often as they like without the URL changing and therefore they needn’t worry about losing links or shares.

I take it your URLs have the date in them?

Thanks so much for replying Marios. Yes mine have the dates. After a lot of research I decided I needed to include them. But I can see the drawback for this particular situation. Ü
