• Hi everyone!

    Just wondering if i am missing something;
    I am trying to change the permalinks of my WP-page. The current setting is the default (page_id=XXX), and i have created my whole page with that setting enabled.

    Just for the esthetics, i now want to change the structure to the /%postname%/-setting, and wondering if this is impossible?

    I have understood that the pages are still persistent in the old permalink-structure, even though i change my settings. But is there any way to update my pages to the new structure? When i click on the posts it displays the correct permalink-structure, and even though i update the post, it never becomes avalible on the new link. Shouldnt it be easy to just “republish” the pages to the new URL?

    Am i missing something?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Changing permalinks everything should change for you.

    If you were direct linking to your template to pageidxxx whatever then it will redirect to the new permalink.

    Thanks for a quick answer!

    Thats what I thought too; WP is very intuitive, but sometimes when a function doesnt work, i feel like a complete retard. I am using a menu that links to the correct url.

    Note that when i am viewing a post, the correct permalink is displayed, but when i press “view page” it just gives me a 404.

    Changing the permalink-settings just sends me to a 404 on every page, no matter what i do…

    Could be your theme.

    Swap to the default theme and test. If it works then you know you got a theme issue.
