Changing name of folder

    I’ve not installed the folder ‘wordpress’ yet and would like to change the name of the folder with the wp files to ‘news’.

    Are there files that I need to alter, before I upload and install the folder? When I have tried this very thing in the past few days. It appears to install, however when I click on the ‘wp-login.php’ link given to me at the end of the Second Step, it take me to http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/ not http://www.mydomain.com/news/.

    You have to change the URI in Options/General before moving. Documentation on moving WordPress here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

    If you’ve not installed yet, just create your “news” folder and upload the files and folders into that keeping the directory structure intact.
    You can name your sub directory anything you want.

    I see from your other post you’ve already run the installer. Use the guide in the 2nd post to move it.
