    I would like my site address to be: http://shelbyrebeccaphotography/wordpress

    And you are hosting this site locally? Have you already registered the domain name, obtained a static IP and pointed the name servers to this IP?

    No 🙁 I know so little about it all…

    What would be the first step?

    With all due respect, unless you have some experience in running an managing a server, I would strongly recommend that you obtain some hosting space from a decent hosting company and create your site there. Hosting your own server is not for the faint-hearted.

    Sounds like you installed WordPress on your own machine, srshrake, which is a great first step since it will allow you test your site setup locally.

    I see that you haven’t registered the domain name (www.shelbyrebeccaphotography.com) that you want yet. You’ll have to secure that domain name and sign up with a hosting service. Many hosting services (like bluehost.com, dreamhost.com, etc) can help you do both those things at once.

    Once that’s done, you’ll need to go through the steps to install your site on that server. If you have further questions, ask away 🙂
