I may have to change hosts for my wordpress site.
How does this work since all the post and pages are on the database on the host side? Is it possible to move the phpMyadmin database to another host?

To transfer your blog to a new hosting server, you will need to follow the below steps:

    – Take the complete backup of all your databases
    – Take the complete backup of all your web site contents.
    – Upload all your web site contents on the new server.
    – Restore all your databases on the new server.

If you change the database name, username and password on the new server, you will need to update your wp-config.php file accordingly.

You can also refer the following codex:

Sorry, I can’t login and post a new topic so I have emailed wordpress.org with that bug.

I am only able to post messages by replying to a post. This is my first post ever at wordpress.org.

I have installed both WordPress and later tried WordPress MU and in either I could not get permalins to work. I have tried everything I found here and via Google search. Nothing helps. My host has mod_rewrite set and I tried various of the solutions I found on the net. Nothing.

So I can’t install Buddypress because it needs pretty permalinks. The default ?x=123 works fine. None of the other pemalinks works.

    Any ideas?

@thaiyindee can you paste the contents of your .htaccess file? Make sure that you have added the required code in your .htaccess file.
