It’s very easy to change the urls in the database and you don’t have to worry about putting the code in the right file or the priority WP assigns to files you add.

    Hi Kara,

I strongly suggest you to backup your database first, before going into the database. Here is how to backup: http://youtu.be/BZe41g0FDV0

And this is how to fix the URL via database: http://vimeo.com/12835527

    Hope this helps

Thank you to both of your advice. I have my site back up and running again. I would still like to change the address of my site. Right now it is http://www.dalyhealing.com but I would like to change the address to http://www.karadalyhealingarts.com. Is this possible?

    Yes, there are 3 steps.
Make sure your new domain is pointed at the host server ip with an A record, so requests for the domain go to the right server.
Add the domain to the hosting account and make sure it’s associated with the right location on the server (usually done when you add the domain in cpanel). This ensures the host can locate the right directory for the site.
Wait a few minutes if you needed to make changes for the above.
In settings » general, change over the site/home urls.
    Cross fingers.

I appreciate the quick reply-I’m afraid I have no idea what you mean by “make sure your new domain is pointed at the host server ip with an A record” or “make sure it’s associated with the right location on the server”. I tried to change my url in settings and general and that didn’t work, it just keeps messing the website up which got me here in the first place. I tried changing it in the database but that doesn’t work either.

I see on my cPanel that the new domain name looks like it is available for 11.99? I’m using bluehost and I did a “domain search” under “domain register” and that’s what came up.

Sorry, I assumed you had already registered the new domain name. You have to do that first, then follow the above steps or contact your registrar for help.
Personally I think dalyhealing.com is cleverer and more memorable.

Okay I will try that, thanks so much!
