Dan,
Hi! This seems like a plugin issue and not a direct WP issue.
You may want to consider going to the plugin page: and asking them there. It seems that the plugin authors are quite responsive and can probably help you resolve this issue quickly.
I did take a look at their website and that is their requested method of tech support.
I hope that this helps.

Thanks I tried three different plug ins and they all dont work with https so I have to think its a youtube thing but so far no one is steering me in the right direction.
Oh good information there. try just posting the video in a post without a plugin.
LOL, simply embedding i works better then the plug in.
Thanks
Dan and others,
For the latest version of the plugin, all you have to do is check the HTTPS/SSL option on the plugin settings page and your embeds will be automatically secured. What’s good about using the plugin, versus not, is that our plugin actually converts past non-HTTPS embeds to HTTPS without you having to go back and make any edits. This feature is currently free and has been quite valuable for sites with several old YouTube embeds that need to from non-HTTPS to HTTPS.
If you’re curious about what other benefits a plugin provides, download ours and see: http://wordpress.org/plugins/youtube-embed-plus/
Cheers,
