Change web url to localhost

    My wordpress server is installed in my home computer (Linux). I discontinued the external dns service. I can access my server using localhost/wordpress. I can see all my text blog, but the link to my photos are still linked to the external url. What can I do to change the photo links to localhost?

    If you can use your dashboard with no issues, you may be able to quickly update the rest of the URL’s using one of these plugins. Better Search Replace or Velvet Blues Update URLs.

    Thanks. I downloaded the VelvetBlues Update URLs to my wordpress/plugins and then tried to install it in dashboard. It asked for
    Server name
    FTP user name
    FTP password

    My server is in my local pc, and the name is debian. I do not know what FTP user name and the password. Since it is in my own pc (linux debian), where do I find the FTP username and password?

    Try installing it in the plugins directory manually instead of uploading it through the WordPress dashboard.

    Now that I have my wordpress working in my localhost, I subscribed to a free account in duckdns.org. I used Velvet Blues to change my URL from localhost to http://shum.duckdns.org. It works on the computer where WP resides. But when I tried to log in from a laptop, I can only see the photos, and the text, etc. (but not formatted). The theme I use does not show up. All the links in the post (except the photos) still point to localhost. Where do I change it?

    Found and fixed it. There is a URL in settings/general that needs to be changed. Velvet Blues plugin missed it.

    Thanks I installed and use “Better Search Replace” to change URL paths and it works well!
