Because I wanted to move from wordpress.com to .org, I arranged for webspace, got an additional, new domain incl. and installed wordpress successfully.
For now, I would like to leave my old domain with wordpress as registrar, but manage the content via the new provider, simultaneously with the new domain. I have changed already the name server at wordpress.com to the new provider, I did not touch the DNS yet and everything looks still as it did before.

My question is actually, what I am supposed to see once the name server changes are active? Because I installed WordPress.org in the /html folder, I thought that the old content on my old wordpress.com domain would actually “change” to the same content I currently see at my new domain. And I thought that this will be like this until I make the necessary changes at new provider…Or did I totally misunderstand this? I am bit of a beginner here as you might have guessed already 😉

Changing the name servers only directs the domain to the new hosting provider. You’ll need to add the domain to your account there or forward the domain to the new domain if you want everything to appear at the new domain.

I wish I could be more specific, but practically every single hosting provider handles this differently, so you may need to get in touch with them for more details.

If you need to move your WordPress installation at any point, make sure that you follow this guide: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

Hi, ok, many thanks. The new provider could indeed solve this!
