I manage a church website that makes use of the google doc embed plugin. It has been excellent for easily posting flyers and handouts. However, I’d like to modify the text of the download link to make it more “user friendly” for our less computer-literate visitors.

Right now, it says “Download, pdf…”

I would like it say “View/Save the full-size flyer”. Just to clarify and simplify for those that don’t understand what it means to download the document.

I’m not much of a coder, so I’m trying to figure out where I can make the change to permanently display the modified text. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Annie,

Download text can be set to whatever you wish in GDE Settings. The setting applies to every link that uses the selected profile, though, so if you use it for more than one document certain options won’t make sense. It is the “link text” setting when you go to Settings > GDE Settings in the WP dashboard.

At present there isn’t a way in GDE to override this on a per document basis, short of turning the download link setting off and creating your own.

    Hope this helps.
