Category div missing when adding the post in admin

    The problem is that the “Category” menu when adding a new post in the admin panel is missing, so i’m unable to choose for what category the post is. The blog is new, and there are only 2 plugins installed, deactivating does not fix the problem. WordPress version 2.8.6

    Any ideas how to fix it ?
