Category – 404 error

    Installed WP locally (installed on a webserver too, same error), I did not made any modifications yet (everything is on default, no plugins, latest WP version). When I am clicking on one of the categories (for example uncategorized) it gives me a 404 error.

    WP install directory: http://localhost/wp/
    uncategorized category “filter”: http://localhost/wp/category/uncategorized/
    tried http://localhost/wp/?cat=1 still not working, the same 404 error.

    Can anybody help me to troubleshoot this problem? I am really need to use this feature! Thank you
