Categories on widget

    First of all this is a fantastic plugin. What I am missing is the possibility for the subscriber to select the post categories when subscribing on the widget or if he confirms the email (on the confirmation page).

    Hi Boas,

    Thank you for trying out Post Notif and for the kind words; I appreciate it!

    The categories are not presently visible on the subscription widget simply as a design decision to keep the widget small and minimize the work for the subscriber to complete the form.

    With regards to the post categories being available for the subscriber to select on the confirmation page, that is existing functionality. Have you confirmed, in your settings (Settings >> Post Notif) that you are making categories available to subscribers? If so, they should be visible and selectable, by the subscriber when they confirm their subscription.

    Unfortunately I cannot see the confirmation page, always a 404. Maybe that is my issue here, I guess. Do you know where to figure out why this happen?

    Hi Boas,

    Oh, OK, that is an issue that has affected several people.

    My first suggestion is just to confirm that your permalinks are set up properly (see the Installation page). If so, then confirm that your subscribers are getting inserted into the database (when you sign up a test subscriber can you see them from Post Notif >> View Subscribers ?). If you can, that means something is going wrong with the plugin’s detection of the subscriber’s personalized confirmation URL. Is your site publicly available on the web? If so, can you post the URL so I can try subscribing myself? If not, can you please email me a screenshot showing the sample confirmation URL that results in the 404 error? (My email address is my first name at devonostendorf dot com)
