Catalog View overide setting not working

    Hi. I have my presentation setting (main) set to Default View and want certain product categories to view in Grid View (not all categories) I found the setting under Dashboard > Products > Categories > (Category Name) > Advanced > Catalog View > Grid View > SAVE.
    Once set I get a message that the category was updated successfully, just to find that it did not set and it returns back to default view?

    This is a client’s site and is frustrating that the setting is there and not working, any advise will be helpful thanks.
