Can you be more specific? Are you talking about individual Pages or your posts? The wp_list_cats template tag may help you.

With Posts, there is an attribute column for categories that can eb set. I don’t see that for Pages.
How can wp_list_cats help? How would I use it.
First, read the instructions at individual Pages and check out wp_list_pages template tag for the specifics. There are some really good examples there on making this work.
You can put the tag in your sidebar, or wherever you want it outside of the post and The Loop.
