FooBox is smart enough to only show the title in the caption, when the caption title and caption description are the same text. So in your example, when the ALT text is also “CAPTION TEXT”, it will only show “CAPTION TEXT” in the FooBox caption and not
“CAPTION TEXT
CAPTION TEX”
I am having the same problem with foobox free on a self hosted site.
Both the caption and alt text are displayed in the lightbox.
If I make the caption and the alt text identical, both are displayed.
If I make the caption and the alt text different, both are displayed.
If I leave the alt text blank, the caption is displayed twice!
This site is underdevelopment on a localhost so I cannot give a url.
Does someone have a solution for this?

I have tried to reproduce the scenarios you listed and I cannot get it to show duplicate title and description. Can you paste what the output HTML is from your localhost so I can test with that please

Is there anyway an update for the plugin could change the alt text/caption behavior?
I understand that so long as the alt text and caption are the same, both won’t appear in the lightbox. But it would be really nice if the alt text didn’t appear at all. We have rather long captions often including html links, which the alt field doesn’t take too well.
