• Got an admin message this morning to say a scheduled update had failed and please try again. Since then, I can’t seem to update anything.

I tried updating Yoast SEO and it got stuck at the “setting maintenance mode” point. Same with another unrelated plugin update. I thought maybe a core update failed so I tried re-installing the core and now its stuck on the download.

I can get past it by deleting .maintenance (and sometimes also .notmaintenance) but I am now unable to update the core or any plugins.

    Help?

  • Check your error logs for the apache installation, or your debug.log in wp-content/ if you have that enabled. There could be many different things at play here.

If you’re on a Centos install you can check /etc/httpd/logs/error_log, other systems may vary by distributor.

The first that comes to mind is maybe the storage is full?

Could this be related to zip.so PHP errors? I can’t find anything else that looks relevant.

BTW I have unlimited storage, so it’s not that.
