I am using Mysql and I have created a database and can access it online with my host’s database manager. There are no tables in the database yet. Here is the message I am sure you are familiar with.
‘We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the pristinesys_com_techblog database.’
The name is correct, at least this is how it is displayed in my database manager when I access it there.
Help. Where should I begin to look for problems? I have already tried using every varient of the name possible and still can’t connect.

  • You need to Add the user to the DB.
You have both, but right now they are not connected up the way they need to be. It’s just one button you need to click 🙂

If you use cpanel / vdeck or plesk, there is some info here on the left:

    Thanks.
I do have users added to the database. The Admin account gives this error message, as do any of the other accounts that I have set to read/write.
    Any other ideas?

Try renaming the database to something a lot shorter ?

I have tried some varients of the name, but I can’t remove the pristinesys_com from the name. The db manager puts that there automatically.

It seems I didn’t understand to change localhost to the url of my webserver. I am up and running now.
    Thanks,
    George
