• I have opened the wp-config.sample file and edited it in NotePad. When I try to save it as “wp-config.php” in the unzipped root directory (still in my Download folder) I’m told “You can’t save it here. Please choose another location.” So I tried moving the WordPress folder elsewhere, but got the same message. What am I doing wrong? I’m a complete newby at this. Thanks!

  • Without seeing your setup, it’s hard to tell what’s wrong. Try saving it to your Desktop first, then overwriting the old one.

That’s your problem. You cannot put a file in an unzipped thing.

You cannot put a file in an unzipped thing.

You can’t put a file in a zipped thing, you mean?

If bizedge has actually unzipped or decompressed the WordPress download, he/she should be able to save anything into the resulting folder.

Try unzipping the file again, bizedge, to your Desktop.

Then browse to the Desktop/wordpress folder and open, edit and save the wp-config.php file again.
