I recently added a sub domain to my main and now I cannot access the main sites wp-admin. I attempt to reset the password but I get an error. Any ideas?

What exactly is the error? There are other ways to reset a user’s backend password. See: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/reset-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin

Please enter your username or email address. You will receive an email message with instructions on how to reset your password.

Error: The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails. Get support for resetting your password.

This is the message I get

Then there is an issue with the email settings in your WordPress and/or your hosting account. To resolve this, however, you must first reset your password using one of the methods mentioned above.

Once you’re back in the backend, you should check why you can’t send emails. Possible causes include plugins you’re using or the fact that your host has disabled the email function. But checking that is the second step.

Ok this has gone way over my head. The easy ways won’t work and I don’t understand my php. It won’t install after downloading. Any other tips?

You don’t need to know PHP to do this. The easiest way is to use phpMyAdmin or a graphical interface provided by your hosting provider for the database. See: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/reset-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin

If you have any questions, contact your hosting provider’s support team.
