Unlike with the ‘classic’ editor, with Gutenberg, there doesn’t seem to be any way to rearrange the various ‘Document’ boxes in the right-hand column: Status & Visibility, Categories, Tags, etc.

Reasons I want to rearrange these fields:

    1) I like to rearrange these boxes so that Status is at the bottom. That way, I am more likely to check all the other boxes have been completed correctly before hitting Publish.

    2) I have a custom box that belongs right next to the Featured Image box, but it’s now stuck at the bottom of the list.

    3) I have a lot of Categories. When the Categories box is open, everything else is pushed down off the screen. It would be less intrusive if I could put it near the bottom of the list.

    Hi @gruts

I hadn’t thought about this before. Thanks for bringing it to us. After a quick look it doesn’t seem possible to rearrange that toolbar section.

My advice here would be to file this as a feature request in Github.

    Go to https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/new?template=Feature_request.md

I am happy to file it if you wish. Just let me know.

I don’t use Github, so please file away.

I would prefer it if this issue was filed as a bug, rather than a feature request, as the facility to rearrange the document fields is available and works just fine in the ‘classic’ editor.

No problem. I’ve made the request for the ability to re arrange the items in the documents box.
