• Hey,
    I have the same problem for the second time.. after a new plugin installation I can’t login. I’ve renamed every plugin under the plugins folder, didn’t work. I’ve changed the plugins folder name, but I still can’t login. When I try to “retrieve” my password it leads me to a 404 page..
    help? 🙂
    Thank you very much,
    Michelle

  • So renaming the plugins folder and disabling the plugins did not work? Typically, thats the most effective solution. What plugin did you install thats causing this?

    Hi Tim,
    it was facebook-social-widgets. I installed it a long time ago, but activated it only yesterday.
    I’ve activated it before with no trouble, but reactivated it. Now I’ve deleted it from the plugins folder as well. My plugins folder is empty. Is there something I can try and do?..

    I mean I deactivated and yesterday reactivated

    I now remember another thing – slick-social-share-buttons needed an update, It didn’t go well (got an error in wp admin dashboard). But I’ve deleted it from the plugins folder too

    try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – renaming or deleting the .htaccess file by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. If you delete it make a backup first.

    Hey, thanx!
    It’s finally fixed – I’ve added this code to my Theme’s functions file:
    wp_set_password(‘password’,1);
    It works!
    I’ve deleted that code row now, of course 🙂
    Thank you
