The mail issue may be due to this bug that is scheduled to be fixed in 4.6.1
https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/37736
Meantime, if you have phpmyadmin access, you can reset your password per the instructions in that codex article.
I don’t think I have a phpmyadmin access. I am still new to wordpress, and I am learning as I go.
When is the fix scheduled to be out?
I’m not sure. When it does, your site should update automatically. phpmyadmin should be available through your hosting control panel.
So I am with Bluehost. If I go to Bluehost>WordPress Tools>Updates I have this message:
Hey! One or more of your WordPress core files have been modified. This could mean that your site has been hacked! Click here to learn more. If you are not sure what this means or you did not knowingly change any of the core files yourself, you may want to reset your core files to their original versions.
I assume that the changes are due to the updates, but should I try resetting my core files? Will that fix it so that I can recover/reset my password?
Should I try to get help through Bluehost?
I should add that my site is not even running right now. There’s still the “website coming soon” message up, so I highly doubt that it’s been hacked.
If your WP is available, it’s possible. I don’t know what that Bluehost stuff does; I don’t host there and would never use a one click installer. Please check with Bluehost support.
I will check with Bluehost. Thanks for your help.
