thanks for the fast response π I read through that several times before attempting to move my site (that doesn’t mean I completely understood what I read….obviously)
Could someone explain http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress to me “…in a “wordpress for dummies” sort of way???
My host is doing a back-up restore, that should take care of my admin log-in problems (I think).
And, for the explanation, I really only need to know “When Your Domain Name and URLs Do Not Change”. I’m moving from a sub-folder in my domain name to the main folder.
If you are moving it from a sub-folder to another folder then that would be the same as moving to a new domain name. The bottom line is the URL (path) has changed.
ok, thanks π My files were restored but I still can’t log in to my account. This is a mess π I had previously changed my settings within wordpress to reflect the new url I wanted to have. So I can’t log in to my wp-admin either….
Change the urls back. See Changing_The_Site_URL for details of how to do this correctly.
Thank you so much!!!!! I edited “functions.php” as prescribed and my site is back up (and deleted the added lines after the site was back up)!
BUT I’m still not able to access my admin log-in page…the page can not be found.
I was going to /wp-login.php … I thought that is where I used to go to log-in (but maybe I’m just crazy…I suppose there’s really no “maybe” about it…). But you’re right, /wp-admin works! I have a way to get into my site! I can’t tell you how thankful I am for your help. Thanks again!
