Can’t Log In

I’ve installed WordPress 1.5.1 and can’t log in. I click log in with the right credentials and it sets the wordpresspass_ cookie then it redirects me to wp-admin/. There it performs auth_redirect() and redirects me back to wp-login.php where I started.

I’ve tried everything I’ve seen suggested in the forums / wiki but nothing works :-(.

If you want to try it, http://sirg3.homeip.net/~allison/ — admin / temp01 for login info.

I’ve tested that other scripts can get / set cookies fine. http://sirg3.homeip.net/~allison/test-redirect.php (it sets the cookie, then sets the location header to test.php, then test.php reads the cookie).

the reupload did not work, I will try the siteurl thing tomorrow…

I havn’t logged in to my site in a few weeks and low and behold, I too can not login in. Site is

http://server15.totalchoicehosting.com/~discover/wp/

when I login in it redirects me back to the wp-login.php with the following url variables: redirect_to=%2F%7Ediscover%2Fwp%2Fwp-admin%2F

1. I checked the site url –it is fine.
2. Deleted password, and recreated
3. setup new ID and password ( with correct hash per codex instructions)
4. Deleted wp-admin directory and root of site and reuploaded with fresh download of wp. verstion 1.5.2?
5. Deleted cookies.
6. Tried new wp-login.php script from codex.

NOTHING IS WORKING. HELP!!!!! It was working a few weeks ago and nothing changed. Is it time to move over to the dreaded MT?

Apache version 1.3.33 (Unix)
PHP version 4.3.11
MySQL version 4.0.22-standard

Just solved my problem!
**** IMPORTANT if you use Zone Alarm *******

If you use zone alarm personal firewall, it will cause the login issues noted above. I was able to login from work and edit my blog. However I couldn’t do it from home. I disabled Zone Alarm and it worked!!!.

I hope this helps some of the frustrated people who have run into the “can’t login” issue.

Hi

I have found what the issue is with this:

1) You may have added this site to the “blocked cookie list” – delete it from there
IE: tools > internet options > privacy > sites > look under managed sites
If your site is there, delete it

2) Make sure your browser is accepting cookies for this site
Between the login and the re-direct to the correct admin page it seems like WP reads
the cookie, if it ain’t there, it will just redirect to the wp-admin page again
IE: tools > internet options > privacy > sites > in address of website type your
url with http:// in front and click “allow”

3) Test by setting your security level to low.
IE: tools > internet options > privacy > drag lever down to “accept all cookies”

You may need to apply just 1 or all of them for it to work.
