    Try this:

    1) Please review your settings located in Settings->Discussion
    2) Ensure that each article has comments enabled. When in the post edit page, click on “Screen options” (top right corner) and ensure that “discussion” is checked. Then scroll down below the post textarea, you should see two checkboxes, one allows you to enable or disable comments for that particular post.

    I have a checkmark next to “Allow people to post comments on new articles “
    I do not see “discussion” as an option in screen options.
    How can I get it back?

    If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of any Page & Post and check “Discussion”.
