can't install into sub folder on host

    I successfully installed today to the root directory of my host, but realized that I then lost my home page (index.html) of my web site. I then deleted all files and re-installed to a subdirectory on my host (../wordpress) but can’t install. I get this error when I try running install.php

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘%’ in /home/content/m/a/t/matlin1/html/wordpress/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 150

    Please….HELP

    Did you also use a new database? If not, the site URL may still be pointing to the main directory.
