• I am unable to get any plugins to show up in my plugins directory on WP. I’ve uploaded the .zip file to /public_html/wp-content/plugins in my file manager and unzipped it, yet when I go to the plugins menu on WP, nothing new has appeared. Any reason why this is happening? Thanks in advance!

  • nesting directories.

paste the full path to a plugin you have uploaded.

then paste the full path to askimet.php.

    compare them.

askimet.php is inside one directory, which is directly inside wp-content/

Thank you so much, whooami. That’s exactly what happened. I mistakenly assumed I needed to add a subdirectory as when you’re adding a new theme. I appreciate the help!

youre welcome, I think 🙂 Keep in mind though, some plugins do go in their own directory, especially if there is multiple files.

Just make sure you dont end up with paths like this::

    wp-content/plugin-name/plugin-name/

I suppose it’s a good thing I really only wanted stats, then! It’s now working and I’m going to step away slowly from the plugin directory… 😉 Thanks again.

Ha Ha Ha Walkingwithscissors! Is this going around. I just did the exact same thing as you did!!

Anyway, helped killing the extra directory level..

Funny though to see that some other geezer in an other country was having the exact same issue!!

Hi guys – I’m actually having a similar problem. I check the path and it still seems to be an issue. I cant install any plugins or themes, for some reason. Is there anything else I should check?

    Byagi,

    http://www.byagi.com/wp-content/plugins/

Do you see anything there other than the 2 plugins that come with WP? Nope.

In other words, you simply aren’t uploading them to where they belong. Plugins get uploaded to your wp-content/plugins/ directory.

I just figured this out – my hosting company didnt switch everything back from the new server to the one i was actually using. Very confusing, but they’re fixing it now.

    Thanks!
