Hai Anna,
Sorry to read you are disappointed.
Looking at your screenshot (very helpful), it looks like you are using the “Tags” category for media. The “(P)” shown in front of it indicates that this is a category also used for posts. This also implies that managing this category is done in the menu related to Posts.
You should be able to use these categories in the media pages.
Hope this helps.
So far, there are 29 post tags:

The MCM settings dialog box seems to detect only one of them.
Please understand that I am NOT a web design pro. I am a historian semi-clueless of code, struggling to present many years of research to potential patrons of authentic digital revivals of 19th- and 20th-century type designs.
If I have missed a step or done something wrong, please teach me how to fix my mistake. I am BRAVE when following specific directions about exactly what code to add exactly where.
Hopeful for a solution, Anna

Hai Anna,
I’ve tested your request and I’m sorry to say that what you would like is currently not possible with this plugin.
It seems to work only with categories and not with tags, although it does seem to. I’ll have a look soon to try to fix it.
In the meantime, would it be possible for you to use categories in stead of tags?
The problem is that I need to use both categories and tags–tags are assigned to items in multiple categories.
The fonts are highly classified by style category. For example, the tag “banner” describes a decorative treatment for fonts in three different style groups, like this:
http://bazaar.typeheritage.com/banner/
Other tags are for terms like 1880s, name of the designer, etc. All tags apply to styles in any category.
There are plenty of plugins for categories. I really need one that has the muscle to handle tags like a filter.
I surely appreciate your work on this project. Maybe soon my “dream plugin” will come true!
Thanks again for trying, Anna

Hai Anna,
As you might have noticed, I updated the plugin to version 1.5.0.
It now includes the support for post_tag as you asked for.
Can you see whether this is working for you?
Good luck!
Jan
Hi Jan,
I’ve been working with a different approach to this issue, and so far the plugins I’ve tried haven’t worked out.
In the meantime, I switched from presenting the fonts as WP posts to the Easy Digital Downloads system. I’m committed to this choice because of a certain critical EDD widget:

Next, I’ll try the WP Media Category Management update and report progress later this week. At this point, I’m looking for a way to display [on a WP page or post] results matching the queries addressed by the above-cited EDD widget.
Thanks again for your remarkable efforts, Anna

Hai Anna,
Just uploaded V1.6.0 which added some features.
Hope you can use some 😉
One I like particularly is the new feature adding a MCM Category widget.
With this widget, you can add a list of MCM categories to a front-end page using the new widget.
