    It appears your blog may have been compromised as there is a file upload script in your /wp-admin/ directory.

    Thanks Brad and Tara, I feel there may be progress here but I have still not got to the bottom of it. How do I take these steps without being able to open the wp-admin please?

    As clearly described in the Codex I linked before, you can use FTP, and you do not need access to admin.

    Please re-review that Codex.
