• Hello and thanks for looking. I am running LAMP w/ubuntu 12.04 on a VPS. I have a wordpress blog up and running but am having trouble locating the proper directories. I’m using the command line to look for my directory containing wp-contents.

    find . -type d

to find the path to wp-content:

    find . -name wp-content -type d

If it is not there then change directory to your root dir.

    cd ~

    The above commands give me:

    ./public
    ./public/exampledesign.info
    ./public/exampledesign.info/public
    ./public/exampledesign.info/log
    ./public/exampledesign.info/backup
    ./.cache

but nothing about my wp-content folder. Where is this folder hiding? I installed wordpress using “wget” command and I’m wondering if I need to start over and install via FTP?

  • It might be within your /public/exampledesign.info/public folder?

well me being a newbie thats entirely possible, but I thought this command would have revealed that folder if wp-content is inside:

    find . -name wp-content -type d

I feel like I’m missing something. Shouldn’t there be a bunch more folders from the wordpress install (wp-includes, wp-admin…)?
