Please help me to solve a problem: when I “purchase” a downloadable file in my shop as a customer I get an e-mail with a link button. I download a file via this button, but I can’t open it, because it is in “view” format. It is actually a video file (placed on my google disk). The file on the disk is ok, but the downloaded file is in “view” format, which can’t be opened.
My hosting company uses LITESPEED server. Please could you give me instructions how to safely download virtual goods for the litespeed web server?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It sounds like what’s happening on your website is the link included in the email is attempting to force the download but that is not possible for the video hosted on Google.

Can you go to “WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Downloadable Products” and then set the “File Download Method” to “Redirect only (insecure)“.

This will send your customers to the video URL instead of attempting to force the download.

You can read more about the different download methods here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/

    I hope that helps!

Thank You. It works, but it is not safe

    Hey @dashabest,

It works, but it is not safe

I’m glad to hear it’s working!

The “insecure” part of this option refers to the fact that when users receive the download link, they have the direct URL for that file. Unfortunately, if you are hosting files elsewhere it’s not always possible to use them without exposing the direct link.

If this is a concern for you then I would recommend hosting the files on your website instead of Google Drive and then you wouldn’t need to use the redirect method.

    Kind regards,
