regardless of that setting, you can disable the author box on “pages” post-type by selecting the option “Only on Posts” for the “Post Types” setting you can find under: Molongui > Authorship Settings > Author Box > Display. Can’t you?
In fact, that’s the setting you should use to control where the author box is displayed automatically. The setting you mention is intended to control all plugin features (author box, co-authors, guest authors…). On the free version of the plugin, it is set to be enabled on both, posts and pages, and cannot be changed.

The setting for Only on Posts is already set. The insertion still happens on all pages. I have a development version of the same site which also behaves this way.
My only workaround right now is to manually hide the author box in pages by changing the override setting in each page (thanks for having that ability).

thanks for your feedback! We are going to look into it so that can be fixed.
After upgrading to v4.0.4, we are also unable to turnoff the insertion of author box on Pages. We try to toggle off the “Pages” in Settings, then click Save, but when we go back, it shows Pages as “on” again.
@ctaylor30 well I’m glad that I’m not the only one!
I also discovered what appears to be another bug – if you edit a page in Elementor, after you update the page from the Elementor editor, the display author box setting gets automatically set back to default and it removes the other assigned to the page (page shows no author even on the back end).
They’re releasing updates like crazy right now, so I’m confident they’ll get all this stuff fixed as long as people actually take the time to report the issue.

We have just released an update (version 4.0.5) that should fix the issue you reported. Please, let us know if it works for you now.

We updated to v4.0.5 and was able to turn off the Author Box on some pages. That said, refreshing the Settings page still shows the “Pages” option as “on”. And now, if we want to actually turn it on, we’re unable to.
Also, on Post pages, they are not acting similarly. Both Posts have the Authorship Box settings set to Default, but one will show the Authors Box and one will not.

Author Box display is controlled with the “Display > Post Types” setting you can find under: Molongui > Authorship Settings > Author Box. If you want it to be displayed only on Posts, configure it to “Only Posts”. Regardless of the other setting you mention, that should work for you.
The other setting you say that reverts to “On” is a Premium setting, so you cannot change it. Anyway, it doesn’t control Author Box display. It enables/disables all plugin features on different post types.
