Every time I log into the back end of my site I get a notice about updating the admin email. The web designer that created my site input an email address that doesn’t exist (admin@wellnessbusinessservices.com). When I try to change it, I’m not getting an email (that it says it sent) to change it. When I tried to do this months ago, I finally got the email (after a day or two), but it was just a confirmation that the email address had been changed. There wasn’t a link to click to confirm I wanted to change it. It clearly hasn’t been changed. What should I do? The web designer’s not involved anymore.

Using the info in the link you provided, I can’t change it in settings>general. I have the issues I mentioned above. I have myself listed in Users as an administrator with my correct email address. I guess I could delete the other user (web designer, who’s email is listed as admin@wellnessbusinessservices.com). Would that force WP to update the administrative email address for my site to my email address?

I don’t have Bluehost or the technical expertise to feel comfortable using option 2.

if you don’t feel comfortable using the method “Change WordPress Admin Email via PhpMyAdmin” , then try contacting your hosting provider and ask their tech to do it for you.

You should always delete anyone having Admin privileges who is no longer involved with the site. And Yes, WordPress should use the next Admin (by date registered) as default Admin including eMail address.

Thank you everyone! I deleted the web designer’s user account and attributed the content she created to my account/email address. It’s still not showing the correct email address as administration email address. I’ll give it 24 hours and see if it updates.

And that’s a good thing which needed to be done, regardless of your current problem.

The change should have taken effect immediately. Can you reply as to whether you asked your Hoster for help, making the change using phpMyAdmin?
