where did you upload your theme as it needs to be in wp-content/themes folder
I uploaded the file through the WordPress document upload, and it is now sitting in www/vermilionriverstewards.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/03 file name: “purevision.zip”
The file is in its zipped state, and I can’t even move it from there as it won’t let me, and there is no option to unzip it. Any suggestions? I have sent a message off to support, but who knows how long that will take.
That is in wrong place you will need to log in on host and delete the file from that location.
To install theme log in your admin panel
click on appearance
Click on themes
click on install theme
click on uploads
browse where you have purevision.zip on your computer
and Click on Install Now
once installed click on activate.
Hello! That is exactly what I did, and it took me many, many tries for it to finally upload fully. For some reason it doesn’t like to upload this zip file. But I followed the steps you outlined exactly, and is there no way to move it, rather than try uploading it again?
ok unzip purevision.zip on your computer and upload themes folder using ftp filezilla in wp-content/themes folder.
once uploaded activate from admin panel.
Hi LindaHeron, just for your info, there’s no official support for self hosted wordpress.org sites. The support at wordpress.com is very fast, but they only handle blogs hosted by them.
there’s no official support for self hosted wordpress.org sites
really? what is this place, then?
it’s a support forum where people volunteer their time and knowledge, as mentioned in the Codex.
People usually take “official support” to mean a room of full time paid support staff answering email queries and phone calls, and this was obviously what was referred to by the statement
I have sent a message off to support, but who knows how long that will take.
Of course, if there really is an official email address for self hosted wordpress.org support queries, do let me know about it as it might be helpful someday.
thanks. i’ll save it right away π
Well I finally got the theme up and running, but I had to use my ftp in Dreamweaver to upload the unzipped file to the appropriate folder. Thanks for your help!
Glad to hear that it worked
