    Hi,

I’ve logged onto my wordpress admin today and I the Appearance- Customise link that used to take me to Styles has vanished and I can’t find Styles anywhere in my Admin dashboard.

It’s definitely installed in the Plugin list and activated. I had quite a lot of styles in there for my site. If I delete the Plugin and reinstal it will it stuff up my site? Is there a way of finding Styles and using it? Thanks.

Any luck? I just set up an add on domain and re-installed the old version of the styles plugin before the update (0.5.3) manually on there and the “styles” option is back again to click on in the Appearance section with the old interface and all the buttons. Do you have a message at the top of your screen that says “Styles is almost ready! To add theme options for Twenty Eleven Child, please install Styles: Twenty Eleven Child.”

?? Does that mean it’s getting updated and we have to wait, or do we have to do something?

I tried clicking on the link and installing that but my website just turns grey.

How annoying! The update has changed some of the appearance of my website too, which I can’t fix without the old plugin.

Any help from anyone much appreciated!

I’m not sure whether you guys are using the old version (0.5.3) or the current version (1.0). Settings don’t overlap between the two, so you should be able to use either.

If you’re trying to use 0.5.3 to get back your old settings, the process should be:

    1. Download and re-install Styles 0.5.3 (zip file)
    2. Remove any duplicate version of current Styles (1.0+)
    3. Go to Appearance > Styles and save your settings

If you’re using the new version, the set-up process is:

    1. Install Styles 1.0+ using the WordPress plugin installer
    2. Activate Styles
    3. Follow the prompts to install and activate the add-on for your theme
    4. Find your new settings interface under Appearance > Customize or Plugins > Installed Plugins > Styles > Customize Theme

If you have both versions installed and activated at once, that may cause issues.

If you have installed the new version, but want your old settings back, you will have to go back to the old version — there isn’t a settings migration currently.

If you are running the new version of Styles, but are getting a grey screen or blank screen, can you tell me what other plugins you have activated, and where you go to see the grey screen?

PS: If or some reason the auto-install of styles-twentyeleven doesn’t work for you, you can download and install it from here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/styles-twentyeleven/

@cass9 I think I’ve found the source of your “gray” screen. It should be resolved now in version 1.0.5. Your process otherwise was correct — Install Styles, then click the links to install and activate the appropriate theme options.
