when you are trying to access your site’s homepage what does your browser say? Does it say, for example, that it caused too many redirects or something similar?
I just joined too and I’m having a similar problem. I used hostgator and created an account about an hour ago. I was in such a hurry to get wordpress up I didn’t actually check the site builder. WordPress installed fine with no problems at all. But when I click the link in the email that leads to my site it says “page not found”. I read something about having to wait 48 hours before the *something* propagates if you get a new DNS. Does the same thing apply if you have a fresh hostgator account?

Welcome!
As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. Posting in an existing topic prevents from being able to track issues by topic. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Also, It’s easier for volunteers to help you if you have your own topic 🙂

In you root directory, check if you see both index.php and index.html (or index.htm) files. If you do, rename the index.html file something as index.htmlHOLD.
