I am having the exact same problem. Please assist, since it is a major blocking issue!
(btw the same goes for any wpadmin page url, it just redirects to the homepage)

Often people forget about Away Mode.
If enabled the iTSec plugin Away Mode feature will redirect users to the homepage when attempting to access the WordPress Dashboard.
To workaround it manually delete the wp-content/uploads/ithemes-security/itsec_away.confg file or wait for the Away Mode time period to expire.

@dwinden: thanks!
You are 100% right in my case. I did not set my WP install to the correct timezone… So mea culpa on my part.
@matthijsschippers
Yep, wrong time zone is a known contributing factor.
Nice to hear you’re back in control 😉

@ dwinden: Please tell me exactly how to delete that file. You mean in my hostgator page? Because I can’t access my wordpress dashboard to do anything. I’m a luddite so please walk me through step by step. The other issue that relates to this is the occasional time it does actually direct to the sign in page it goes to an error message that says I’ve been locked out due to too many login attempts. I can’t get into my dashboard for 3 weeks now. This is EXTREMELY frustrating!
@hicamos
Ok, in that case I think it is best to contact hostgator and ask them to remove the file mentioned in my earlier post for you (if it exists).
As to preventing the lockout you should permanently whitelist your IP address in the Global Settings section on the iTSec plugin Settings page once you get back in. And disable the Away Mode feature…
Are you sure you are trying to login with the correct credentials ?
It sounds like it’s been a while since you actually logged in.
If unsure reset your password by clicking on the Lost your password? link on the WordPress Dashboard login page.
Hope this helps.
