Do you have any .htaccess files on your server?

Hi, I’ve had a look it my /public_html folder (is that the right place to look?) and can’t find one.

Do I need to create one?

    Thanks for your help.

No but it sounds as if something is rewriting your urls. Ask your hosts for assistance. Perhaps it has something to do with the way your domain is set up.

I have contacted my provider and they have checked the server etc.. which is all working fine. Erm…..

Well, I’m sorry but either their server has an issue or their Fantastico installations do. Try installing WordPress manually.

Thanks for replying, I will try it manually.

Update… I have tried an manual install which worked fine but still can’t access dashboard. I contacted my host and they spent a while looking into it and said errors are being caused by a plugin and to contact wordpress support. As it was a fresh install there was only the one default plugin which I deleted, still no luck. Might have to scrap WP all together which would be a shame.

Another update…. I installed WP version 2.9 and that worked fine. I tried to do an auto update but nothing happened. I then tried a manual update but couldn’t access dashboard again so I worked my way back down the versions. Only 2.9 seems to work. I have tried adding a few new themes via ftp but they all cause problems and I have to delete them. Very weird and frustrating. Will have to wait until the next release and see if that fixes the problems.
