• Hi,
I have (had) WordPress 2.02 and decided to upgrade to the latest version. The new host runs the correct versions PHP and MySQL for the new WordPress. 2.02 didn’t have a auto update routine so I follow the the quick manual install notes. All went well up until the last step when I logged into wp-admin which proudly told me

You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires MySQL version 5.0 or higher. You are running version 4.1.23.

Can anyone advise what to do next?

    Thanks

    Colin

  • Call your host provider to change the PHP and MySQL version for you unless you have access to those options in your cPanel.

    Thanks Jorge

I have an option to create a new V5 MySql database – but the old database has all of the content within it. I would really like to transfer the data into the new version database – is that possible?

    Pleased as Punch 🙂

I have managed to sort it out following the helps files dotted around the site.

Exported MySQL V4 data, made a new v5 database and user, imported data and adapted WP config file. Ta da site working perfectly.

Thanks to WordPress for help files. It gave good guidence.
