• Ok, I’ve searched the forums until I’m blue in the face and I’ve not seen anyone with the exact same problem. Here’s the screenshot: http://sandysandersdesigns.com/wp-content/myimages/temp/wpthemeprob.jpg
(I have 2 domains running on the same host and I just use one for dumping screenshots for like a temp directory. The domain I’m having problems with is not the one listed in the address to the screenshot)

Here’s the problem.. I can obviously not see any thumbnails of any of the themes even the 2 default wp themes. I can switch between the 2 default themes and activate them and those 2 work fine (the classic and the default). However when I try to activate or even preview 1 of the 2 themes I have installed none of the images show up at all. I’ve seen where some people have a problem nesting directories but this is not the case. I’ve used wp before (that doesn’t make me a expert) but I know how to install themes and plugins properly without making extra directories. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Might make sure your wp-content and wp-content/themes folders are set to 777 permissions.

    See Changing File Permissions

Weird, I’ll try that but another wp site that I do have working just has those 2 directories you mentioned with permissions set as “UNIX equivalent 755”.

O.K. so I tried the permissions change and that didn’t work. So I changed the permissions back to 755 and now I’m getting a new error. This happened when I changed the permissions on those 2 directories to 777 but it still happens even though I’ve changed the permissions back to the original 755.
The error I’m getting is when I’m in the design/themes mode in the wp admin whenever I click on any of the 4 themes I have, wp only previews the default blue wp theme.

    *sigh my plot/prob thickens.. :/

    are you blocking hotlinking?

check the top most .htaccess .. and if theres more, check those as well.

heres a similar error, for an image that doesnt exist:

    http://anti-chavez.com/wp-content/themes/i20-theme-series-blue/t.png

that should be a 404, but alas its not.

Im betting its hotlink protection in your .htaccess …

assuming that is there, I should be able to bring that right up — youre files are properly accessible.

Btw, the error you saw earlier, the server error was a result of you having dirs at 777 (good hosts dont like that and set up things to not work on purpose when ppl do that)

Hotlink protection is disabled on my server. To tell you the truth I’m so frustrated right now I feel like deleting everything and the new mysql database and reinstalling wordpress. This is getting worse. Everytime I try and login now to my wp admin page it will not let me login and I have to do the lost password thing. Sometimes that doesn’t even work. Even though I go in to my settings and change the password to what it Should Normally be, I can never log back in. 🙁

yeah well its disabled now, since BOTH the links above are behaving correctly.

How to fix the login problem though.. I swear I have to click on ‘lost password’ each time to maybe get in. Once in, I always change my admin’s password to what it should be and I still cannot log back in.. weird. I have cleared cache/cookies and used 2 different browsers 🙁

i cant speak to that, sorry.

ill be honest and say that ive easily upgrade 30 different blogs to 2.6.2, and each time Ive expected to see some sort of login issue and haven’t.
