This problem is still not resolved. I’ll try to explain further.
When attempting to add HTML links from Commission Junction into my posts, I was having to switch to HTML and go through the link icon to install the link.
Now, going from text to HTML the tool bar, including the link icon, gray out and cannot be used.
When I click on the ? icon, several of the tool bar icons light up, but the link icon brings up a strange window that you can enter a URL, but there is no button to enter it into anything. This window is not the one that came up previously that allowed this action to take place.
What do I need to do to allow me to enter my affiliate links?
All those icons are driven by javascript. Since you are getting some and not others try this. Delete the wp-admin folder. Replace it with a fresh wp-admin and files.
how does one delete the wp-admin folder without losing the whole website and it’s content and then replace it? I’m not very geeky so please make it simple
As long as you don’t delete the wp-content, the config.php and .htaceess (if you have one), both in the root there is no problem. All the actual information for the site is in the db and in wp-content.
A normal troubleshooting method is to delete and replace wp-includes and wp-admin which just have source files that one should not have changed.
But first, have you tried disabling all plugins and switch to the twentyten theme? This would rule out a theme or plugin problem.
I have absolutely no idea of how to do what you are asking. I do appreciate the help, but we need to get to something I can understand.
All of your content is stored in your database – so you can re-upload the wp-admin and wp-includes folder without any problems using FTP (or whatever file management application your host provides).
