Cannot login as admin after hosting change

    After transferring to a new host I cannot get full admin access to the back end. The new host has attempted but failed completely, I got a backupbuddy working but no admin access.
    A new full transfer was also attempted, but failed to give admin access.

    So as not to waste your time here are the important highlights of the testing I conducted:

    1. DB Table wp_ebf2options -> wpebf2_user_roles: I used the value found in the previous hosting and replaced corresponding values in the live site but did not solve the issue (original value has been restored).

    2. DB Table wp_ebf2options -> wpebf2_user_roles: I used the value found in a freshly installed WordPress site database and replaced corresponding values in the live site but did not solve the issue (original value has been restored).

    3. DB Table wp_ebf2usermeta -> wpebf2_capabilities: I used the value found in the previous hosting and replaced corresponding values in the live site but did not solve the issue (original value has been restored).

    4. DB Table wp_ebf2usermeta -> wpebf2_capabilities: I used the value found in a freshly installed WordPress site database and replaced corresponding values in the live site but did not solve the issue (original value has been restored).

    5. I tried deactivating all plugins but no effect. The issue persisted.

    6. I tried switching themes and used TwentyFifteen but it has no effect. The issue is still there.

    What’s next?

    Hello, benedickhoward, & welcome. You certainly have done some great troubleshooting here. Maybe after all is said & done here you might consider being a support forum volunteer? I’d be glad to serve as a backup bud if you don’t feel quite up to doing that alone.

    There is a lot, however, that you haven’t told us. Are you on shared hosting, VPS, or dedicated server? Are you hosting on Linux or Windows? Could you please provide a site url? Do you know if you have any sort of firewall running, i.e., WordFence, etc?

    Having said all that, have you tried, perchance, using wp-logon.php to log into your site as admin? Also, what happens when you try to log in as admin, i.e., do you get an error, a redirect loop, etc? Lastly, is this a single- or multisite install? Sorry for so many questions, but clearly the approach will differ given the answers to at least some of these.

    Perhaps it might also be instructive for you to paste your .htaccess file or equivalent in your reply. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Hope all my questions haven’t proved too overwhelming/annoying.
