• I appologize if this has already been asked, but extensive searching on my part has turned up nothing.
To put my problem simply and accurately, I cannot log out of WordPress. I press the “Logout” button, but it just appears to reloads the “Creat New Post” page. I have tried deleting all my cookies, and force-reloading the page, but nothing seems to work. I can log in and out out with immpunity on another profile on my computer, so this is not a problem that provides serious difficultly, but I would rather like to find out why this happens, as it IS somethat troublesome.
Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.
Also, although I have some experience with HTML, and a very little with PHP, I am still very much a beginner, so if your anwser has something to do with coding, please explain it in detailed, idiot-proof fashion.

  • Have you tried Logging out, closing your browser, then reopening it and trying to get back in ?
It could be an issue with your browser settings where it remembers and applies secure passwords. If so, closing the browser may help ?

I have tried shutting down the browser, and then attempting login. However, when I try to directly access the wp-login.php script by typing it into the address bar, it just bypasses the login page, and takes me directly to the “Make New Post” page.

I would check your browser settings.
Which one are you using – we have experienced users of all of them here 🙂

I am using IE 6, and after deleting all cookies, temporary internet files, and history from within said browser, the login seems to work OK. While this solves my problem for now, it would be nice to know why it did this to prevent future mishaps.

Sorry to bump this post, but I’m having this problem again, and it is rapidly become more than just annoying. I really don’t want to have to delete all my cookies whenever I need to switch between my admin and posting accounts. I am assuming this is an setting in IE that needs to be changed, but I have no idea what it would be. Please, any help is appreciated.

    Switch to a better browser.
    Seriously.

when u have water leakage, should I suggest u to change houses?
    🙂

I’m having the same issue in Mozilla so I don’t think it’s browser-specific. I have cookies dissabled and am not able to logout of my admin account at all.

Did this ever get resolved? I am having this same issue …

    same issue here… hmmmm
and this is the happening for the first time in 3 wp-blog install this time i installed it on a different server however. could a server-side setting be responsible?

Hey I’m having the same issue.
It works fine with IE but firefox keeps one user logged in and I have been back a day or so later.

    Any ideas would be great
