• Hi,

I upgraded to the latest version 3 of wordpress, then attempted to change some code in filters.php

Now my website has disappeared as well as the wp-admin log in page so I’m unable to access / log in to my website either, to make any changes.

I’m not techie at all, but I’m learning and I’m building my website myself – flauntwithstyle.com

The error message which appears when trying to load any of the pages is: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/content/17/5858617/html/wp-content/themes/arras-theme/library/filters.php on line 122

Can anyone advise me on what I need to do to restore the filters.php code and get my website and wp-admin log in page back up please?

    Many thanks

  • If you are sure that editing the filters.php file caused the issue (the error at least suggests that it did) you should only need to replace the file with your last known working backup copy.

If you have no backup copy, download a new copy of the theme to your desktop, extract just the file you need, and replace it via ftp or file manager in your hosts control panel.

Many thanks for your advice. I’ll need to download a copy of the theme again.

I’m not sure what ftp or filemanager is, but I guess I contact my host (they have telephone support) so they can talk me through this.

Many thanks again! I’ll reply back with how I get on.

    Hi,

I kept a window open with the filters.php page as I won’t be able to access any part of the dashboard if I close it.

I downloaded the theme as advised and copied the code from dreamweaver and pasted it into the filters.php section of the dashboard, but this doesn’t seem to work either – is this the correct way of doing it?

Just before posting my query, I contacted my host who talked me through restoring the web page, but this can take up to 48 hours, do you think I’ll need to cancel the restoring and try uploading the code again?

Apologies if this has complicated things, just trying my options as I’m keen to get my site back up asap and daunted by the prospect of having to re build my pages as it’s taking a newbie like me a little while.

    Many thanks again
