• Hey everyone, I noticed another thread like this but it didn’t seem to have a resolution that would work for me so I made another. I have a wordpress.com website that I have been trying to move over to wordpress.org for about 3 weeks, and I am failing pretty miserably at it.

I own the domains through wordpress.com. The hosting was purchased through godaddy. I have added the domains to godaddy, installed the newest version of wordpress, and have changed the nameservers to point at godaddy. When I attempt to launch the wp-admin page, it won’t load. It just says “connecting” for a few minutes before it times out. If I try to access the domain directly, same thing.

Did I do something horribly wrong? (I wouldn’t be surprised!) I would appreciate any and all advice!

Thank you in advance for reading and (hopefully) replying!

    Best regards,
    Kay

When did you make this change? Did you wait for 72 hours for the changes to propagate fully?

Oh forgive me, my guide said it would be 48 hours. No, I have not waited 72 hours. Sorry! It should be 72 hours tonight.

Thank you, I apologize for wasting your time!

No problem. If this still isn’t sorted by tomorrow, then you know where we are. ๐Ÿ™‚

I cannot log into my admin page. I can’t even get to my admin page. Whenever I try to get to http://licefitcoach.com/wp-admin it says the page cannot be found. I installed through host gator and I’m waiting to see if it’s someting on their end. I have recieved an email tha’t says your blog has been installed with all the relavent log in information. Why won’t it even go to the page. I’ve previously installed a blog in which everything was done in 60sec, but three days later, I still can’t access the blog.

    Hiยก

I have the same problem.I have not changed anything in weeks, and I can not access.

Hey, so it’s me again! Yeah… still no luck! Changed namseservers a week ago… and still nada! wp-admin page will not load. Comes up with cannot find page. I am pulling my hair out trying to get this to work! Please help? For the sake of my pretty hair?

What is the domain you’re trying to reach? It would be good to be able to see the error directly.

How did you install WordPress? Did you do it manually, or using an installer provided by GoDaddy hosting?

    Dear Christiaan,

The domain is Kayfroebel.com and I installed it via their wordpress application (I think?)

What I did was changed the nameservers to point to godaddy nameservers, and added the domain to my hosted section. I then installed the wordpress application. From there, godaddy said I was supposed to be able to just log into the kayfroebel.com/wp-admin site… but when I try to go to that address it says,

Sorry, but we cannot find kayfroebel.com.

Am I doing something horrendously wrong? Godaddy says I need to transfer php files… but all the guides say just to DL the XML file which I have done. I apologize if I sound like an idiot, I just have no idea what I am doing wrong.

I checked your DNS records, and I think I see the problem. You’re very close to to having everything set up properly! However, you’re not quite there yet.

You have NS (nameserver) records for your domain, which is excellent. What you don’t have is an A record. The A record tells a computer the IP address of the server where the domain is located. Without this, your computer has no idea where to go find the site! You should be able to find the IP address for your hosting server inside GoDaddy’s control panel. If it’s not visible, I’d suggest contacting GoDaddy to get it. Once you’ve added that to your DNS records, you should be able to see your site as soon as the new DNS records propagate.

To check your current DNS records as they’re seen by other computers, go here: http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=dnsrec&host=Kayfroebel.com

Notice how there’s no A record listed? Once you add one and you see it there, it should be no time until you start seeing it working on your computer.

Okay! I went in and added in the A record, (I think!) and waited a few hours. Now I am getting this:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache Server at kayfroebel.com Port 80

Did I enter the A record incorrectly?

Actually, I think I have it working!

I just checked and it does indeed appear that it’s working properly. If you’re all set with this issue, please mark the thread as resolved.
