i’m sure this is going to be obvious to someone but i’m tearing my hair out over this.

i have my own server running ubuntu 7.10, i’ve installed LAMP, wordpress (2.3.2) etc and on the localhost it all works fine.

now, i have a dynamic ip so i use a dyndns equivalent and this has caused me no trouble for a few years (and i’m sure its not the problem now)

the problem is this: when i browse to my URL it goes to the base apache home page (the ‘it works!’ page)

the wordpress is installed in /var/www/wordpress, but when i go to http://devoid.ohflip.com/wordpress i get the 404 error.

anyone have any clues what i’m doing wrong?

thanks, in advance, for any replies…

    Tony

  • Site works fine from outside your network. I see a blog.
Did you fix it so quickly?

Or are you sure this isn’t a dynamic IP related issue?

hmm, i have my old blog on another server when i flick the router to send http traffic to my other server its fine, so i don’t think it dynamic ip related.

you can see the blog on the devoid.ohflip.com link or the link with the ../wordpress ?

could be an internal network problem i guess. i’m flumoxed.

cheers for the quick reply, though 🙂

thanks again! just fired up another pc on the network and that gets it fine too. bizarrely, it seems to be an issue with my main PC.
