Cannot Access WP Login – NET::ERR:CERT:COMMON:NAME:INVALID
-
Hi,
I have switched from wordpress.com to wordpress.org hosted at bluehost, taking my existing domain with me (www.rovingnorthman.com), and have installed new wordpress. My problem is that I cannot access my wordpress admin login on my computer.
Chrome gives me the error message: NET::ERR:CERT:COMMON:NAME:INVALID. Have also tried IE and Firefox, which both give similar error messages, apparently relating to security certificates. I am not able to ignore the error/warning and proceed anyway – no such option. The weird thing is that everything works perfectly on my phone, iPad and work computer. I have tried everything I’ve seen in other posts – clearing browser history, cookies, cache, etc. Disabling antivirus software, deleting the “https” part, etc. Name Servers are pointing to new host – and have had time to propagate.
If I use IPVanish on my computer and try to access my website – http://www.rovingnorthman.com – it takes me to my old wordpress.com website (even though I have not set up any redirects). And if I try to access the new admin login, it redirects me to the old wordpress.com login. However, if I type in the same URL on any other device, it takes me to the “Website coming soon” page, where I am also able to log in to the new wordpress admin (which is where I want to get to on my own computer!).
I have spent hours trying to figure it out, but nothing seems to work. Very frustrating.
Any assistance would be much appreciated! I have very limited technical knowledge, so layman’s terms are appreciated also (at work now – responses may be a little slow).
Many thanks
